Why Philippines and Colombia

Delivering innovation, efficiency, and passionate client services from the two far ends of the world

Why Philippines?

The Philippines has seen an explosive growth in the IT/Creative Technologies sector in the past decade. The rise of the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) has fueled the rise of highly-developed infrastructure and capabilities for large-scale companies to function in the country, taking advantage of it’s highly educated population and the public’s relatively open attitude towards innovation and positive change. By 2016, the income from the BPO/IT sector alone is expected to hit the $25B-mark. This industry is tremendously beneficial not only because of its intrinsic values, but also due to its multiplier effects to peripheral industries such as transportation, hospitality services and entertainment.

E-learning is still an emerging industry in the country, and it represents a growing segment in the market as more and more educational institutions, companies and organization embrace information technology as an alternative and or a supplement to traditional methods. In order for businesses and organizations to keep abreast with the current trends in the workplace, it is important for them to adapt to e-Learning and development. The country is home to a genteel people with excellent communication skills, outstanding work ethic and the drive to succeed. The relatively young population is also burgeoning, and trends in the e-learning market have been targeted towards catering to the forward-thinking millennial generation.

Why Colombia?

Colombia has enjoyed a surge in foreign direct investment following its rebranding as a business-friendly environment in the past decade. International investors have been flocking to Colombia’s metropolitan areas to put up businesses and take advantage of the young, well-educated workforce.

Very similar to the Philippines in terms of the growth in the IT/Creative Technology sector, Colombia has enjoyed an elevated status as one of the leading countries in South America in the areas of BPO and Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO). The cities of Medellin, Bogotá and Bucaramanga have been listed in the Top 100 Outsourcing Destinations Ranking. Revenues from the country’s software industry shot up to over 200% in only a span of five years, from 2008 to 2013. In the same vein, Colombia’s IT market is growing twice the rate of the rest of Latin America. Over half of Colombia’s population is connected to the Internet. It comes as no surprise that future developments in the IT/Creative Technology sector are seemingly limitless.

Mediamatics has been in operating in Colombia since the year 2012. Business in the country and in the region is steadily growing because of the increased interest in the use of e-learning in the academe and in the professional circles.
